Saturdays

S aturday mornings Manila scene are usually spent cleaning and disinfecting - rooms, rooms and all sorts of rooms at home. The three of us, Cecil, Erich and myself are tasked to clean and declutter our rooms from all of the junk we have collected in a week's time. You know - mga ticket sa JD or DM bus, mga ticket sa sine o kung ano ano pang mga alikabok.
We have our own radyo in our room. Pero iisa pa rin ang pinatutugtug - the main stereo in the living room. Since there are three of us and only mama to disagree with, then we win. She vehemently disagreed with the choice of music we listen to - pero what can she say?
We didn't have any CDs then. It was too much of an inconvenience to go up and down the stairs to change cassette tapes. So we have the radio tuned to our common station - DZRJ - the Rock Of Manila. On Saturdays - Howlin Dave ( Dante David) had the Pinoy Rock and Rhythmn at 12 noon. That was always a blast. Juan Dela Cruz Band, Maria Cafra, Aunt Irma etc. No,no, no - no elevator music. It's Pinoy Rock the whole Saturday.
It is a bright Saturday morning here in Missouri. I tuned in to the internet DZRJ FM radio station. Walang Pinoy Rock. Puro elevator music. Gabi doon - Umaga rito.

Prior to the Digital Camera...

A typical camera bug would know these words - dark room, roll of film, over exposure, focus, out of focus blahblahblah. Cameras then used a roll of film to take pictures. There is a viewfinder to locate the image and the photographer would have to focus the subject. That is a lot of work compared to our point and shoot now a days.
James, the younger brother, has developed a liking to photography. However he stepped back into the past. He is using the roll of film route. He has a "suki" developer downtown that he frequents to to have his pictures developed.
On our recent trip to Seattle, WA, his camera was with him together with the SLR of his Tito Ramil. The SLR was for those quick pictures while the manual camera was for the less quick pictures ( I think).
Below are some of those less quick pictures. I think he has the artistic eye and the steady hand. I think he has the passion. I am scared of the expenses of providing an own darkroom - if requested.
